Frequently Asked Questions About Therapy
Which service should I take?
If this is your first session with me, select: ‘first visit psychology’.
If this is your first visit as a couple, select: ‘couples therapy’.
What is the first session like?
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. You can tell me what concerns you and what you would like to work on, while I explain the therapeutic process to you. Together we will define your goals and determine the best way to move forward.
How long does each session last?
Each session lasts approximately 50 minutes, both in person and online.
How often is it recommended to attend?
At the beginning, it is most common to have one session per week to give continuity to the process and speed up the initial assessment. Over time, and depending on your progress, we will space out the sessions to every two weeks or whatever frequency suits you best.
How long does a therapeutic process usually last?
There is no set time frame, as each person and each situation is different. Some people achieve their goals in just a few sessions, while others prefer a longer process to deepen their well-being and personal growth.
What is the difference between online and face-to-face therapy?
The main difference is the format: in person at the clinic or online via video call. Both methods have proven to be equally effective, secure, and confidential; the choice depends on what is most convenient and accessible for you.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes. Everything you share during a session is treated with complete confidentiality and is protected by the psychological code of ethics. Your privacy is a priority.
Can I cancel or reschedule a session?
Yes, it is possible to cancel or reschedule a session by giving at least 24 hours’ notice. That way, we can reorganise the schedule and reserve your slot for another time that suits you better.
Do I need previous experience in meditation or mindfulness to enrol in the MBCT Mindfulness programme?
No, it is not necessary. The programme is designed for people with or without experience, as you will learn this discipline step by step.
How long is the programme?
The programme lasts for 8 weeks, with weekly sessions lasting 2½ hours, plus daily practice at home lasting between 45 and 60 minutes.
What happens if I cannot attend a session?
If for any reason you are unable to attend, you will receive materials and guidance so that you do not lose track of the course. It is advisable to attend all sessions to get the most out of the experience and receive the certificate at the end of the programme.
Is it just as effective to do it online as it is in person?
Yes. The programme maintains the same structure, content and support in both modalities. You can choose the option that best suits you.
What benefits can I expect from the course?
You will learn to better manage stress and emotions, reduce repetitive and negative thoughts, improve your overall well-being, and prevent relapses into depression or low mood.
Does this course serve as a stepping stone to becoming an MBCT teacher?
Yes. The MBCT programme is the first step in the official training pathway for those who wish to continue their training and become certified teachers.
